My mindful practice for today is to be aware of my ego when it tries to move into the drivers seat. Don’t get me wrong, I am not wanting to condemn the ego. We all have egos, and they can truly serve us with endeavors and roles that we play to achieve things. We fine tune that paper, we compete for the best grade. We perfect things, beautify things; the yard, the house, the car. We wash, we deodorize, adjust our appearance, Fuss over details, put on a happy face. We reach our goals. We try to present the best parts of us to the outside world. I would say these egoic endeavors come from a healthy self respect, and self respect is a good thing. Have fun, do well, let your heart play a part with your love for the…. But Don’t be taken over by the ego maneuver where critical judgement sets in. Judgement is a nasty little game the ego likes to play, and now IT’S in charge. Judgement also gets us overly attached to our role playing. As Michael Sealy puts it; “The ego is now driving the car” and most likely from the roof top! This childlike ego game full of competition comparisons and ratings, is the very same game that billionaires play against other billionaires, thinking they need to acquire more money. Its sad, what they really need to acquire is MORE HEART! ….That’s where the RICHES riches are found.
